What ayurveda massage is
Ayurveda literally means 'science of life'. It is a health system originating in India with over three thousand years of history, which understands wellbeing as a balance between body, mind and breath. Ayurveda massage is its best known manual application: a head-to-toe treatment, fluid and continuous, designed for deep relaxation.
It does not resemble a sports massage or a localised deep tissue massage. It is a global, enveloping treatment that combines long strokes with gentle pressure and a constant rhythm that lowers the heart rate and helps you switch off.
What a session is like
We start with a short conversation to get to know you: how you feel, whether you have any discomfort, whether you are looking for relaxation or a more revitalising feeling. From there we adapt the pressure and the oils.
The session takes place on a couch, with warm vegetable and essential oils applied lukewarm to encourage muscular relaxation from the very first touch. We work on the back, legs, arms, shoulders, neck and head.
We offer two durations: 60 minutes, ideal for a first experience or a quick break, and 90 minutes, which allows the whole body to be worked on unhurriedly and is the most recommended option if you want to switch off completely.
